How to Fix Windows 7 Bootloader Problems

If your computer is failing to load the operating system during startup, the problem might be a corrupt Windows 7 bootloader. The startup problem may occur due to various reasons like damaged or replaced Windows 7 boot sector or an earlier Windows operating system has been installed after windows 7 was installed. This can easily be fixed using command line utility. Follow the given steps to fix this problem.

Step1: Insert Windows 7 setup DVD in the optical drive and restart your computer. Press any key when prompted.

Step2: Click the option “Repair your computer”.

Step3: After scanning, select Windows 7 as the installation type and then click “Next”.

Step4: Click on the “Command Prompt” option on the “System Recovery Options” window.

Step5: Type “bootrec.exe /FixBoot” (without quotes) and press “Enter” to repair the Windows 7 bootloader. This command writes a new boot sector to the system partition by using a boot sector, which is compatible with Windows 7 or Vista.

Step6: After repairing the bootloader, restart your computer if prompted.
